Project Hudson Partnering with St. Peter’s University
Project Hudson is pleased to announce a partnership with Saint Peter's University and nine of the Peer Career Mentors (PCMs) working for the Center for Career Engagement and Experiential Learning (CEEL). Over 50% of the PCMs are Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) students. The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund was created in 1968 to provide more meaningful access to higher education for those who come from economically and educationally advantaged backgrounds. The Fund assists low-income New Jersey residents who are capable and motivated but lack adequate preparation for college study.
The PCMs act as mentors for first year students at the university and our partnership with them will focus on four core finance topics:
Goal Setting
Budgeting
Debt Management
Financial Resource Management
Project Hudson coaches will provide multiple financial literacy presentations to the nine PCMs to cover these topics and after each of the four presentations, will meet individually with each PCM to discuss any questions that they have. As part of this partnership, each PCM will be able to continue to work with Project Hudson and become an ambassador for Project Hudson.
This exciting partnership will enable us to expand our network and reach young adults who are beginning to manage their finances. In addition to reaching a broader audience, we hope to foster and develop students who might be interested in coaching with Project Hudson in support of our Coach the Coaches program. We look forward to the impact in our community that Project Hudson and Saint Peter's University can drive together.
