Partnering for Progress: Financial Goal Setting Sessions Bring Increased Engagement

Ever wonder what a Project Hudson session looks like? Well, we’ve decided to offer a glimpse into some of the work we do with our partners in small group settings to educate the community on our mission and purpose.

On March 3, our Community Programming and Outreach team was hosted by Saint Peter’s University alongside Welcome Home New Jersey, an organization that provides educational and employment support to refugees and asylum seekers in Jersey City. This hybrid in-person and virtual session provided a high level of interaction, and we are discussing options for a follow-up session with Welcome Home Jersey City.

On March 4, the same team presented to New City Kids at their location in Jersey City, with the addition of our Creative Director, who photographed the event.

As part of these sessions, we took the opportunity to provide an overview of Project Hudson and a presentation on financial goal setting. Our focus was on educating attendees to focus first on setting specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and time-bound (SMART) goals.

We have set up three 1:1 sessions directly resulting from these in-person sessions, one of which has helped a mentee land an internship with a big four financial firm (more on this soon!). We are thrilled at the progress we’ve made this year and aim to keep the momentum with plans to hold additional presentations to both organizations.

A special thank you to our dedicated team for coordinating and attending these sessions:

  1. Kyle

  2. Andrew

  3. Ana

  4. Anthony

  5. Connor

These in-person sessions help us strengthen our partnerships and continue to improve engagement with underserved members of our community.
